Hey guys,

I'm not too sure where to put this, but I live in VA and I'm trying to find a place that will fix my rear tire. I took it up to school and while I was in class somehow the tire went flat, and I had to push it home Sad . I finally got the tire off the bike, but I don't know if there is an inner tube in there or if it is like a normal car tire. I'm really new to this scooter thing and I called the local tire place and they sent me to a bicycle store, but they're not sure they can fix it. Has anyone had to change their tires or get them repaired before? Maybe you can point me in the right direction to getting it fixed.

All it says in my "manual" is that it is a 3.5-10-4PR. The scooter is a Xingyue XY50QT.

Try a motorcycle shop. Or you can try putting tire sealant and airing it back up.

It should be a tubeless tire. Have them check the valve stem.

First, just put some air in it and see if it holds. Someone may have thought it would be funny to watch you walk home. Just never know. Then, if it still losing air, take to a motorcycle shop as suggested. The tires are tubeless but I prefer to put a tube in one rather than repair a tubeless tire on any kind of bike. Or, just replace the tire.

tried to put air in, but the edges of the tire are moved towards the inside of the rim, so it wouldn't hold any air.Sad I'll probably stop by a bike shop tomorrow then.

I had a helluva time with that too. I just kept massaging the tire until it was on the bead enough to hold a little air. If your wheel is off the bike, propping it on a stool helps, so the weight of the wheel at one spot isn't pushing the tire back off the bead elsewhere. A belt cinch would be perfect: I could wrap it around the outside of the tire and constrict, and that would help hold the tire onto the bead until it was inflated enough.

I had this prob with my dad's roller tiller the other day. I couldn't get it to air up because the bead would not seal around the rim. Finally I sprayed it with some soapy water, and it aired up. The soapy water somehow helped the bead seal.

Also if you're not using an air compressor, this would probably help. There are usually some gas stations that have them you can use.

When the soapy water wouldn't work I've had to put a rope around the outside of the tire and use a stick like a tournaquet to get the bead to set up enough on the rim for the tire to take air.

A shop has a metal strap/band to use to get a tire to take air.

That's odd! Even fully deflated the tire will not usually come apart from the rim unless there was some type of rolling load on the tire when it deflated. I am sure that you would have noticed if the tire was flat when you got to school.

Anyway, even though it might not help for this particular problem I always carry a can of "fix a flat" and a hole plug kit with me at all times. It saved me from pushing my scooter for miles when I got a screw in my back tire.

So it was an innertube. I got it fixed and the guy said there was a just a hole in it. But it didn't look like it blew out or anything. Just a crappy chinese innertube. I think I'm going to get the front one switched out before it blows on me while I'm riding it.

If it was an innertube with a small hole, you should have been able to pump it up without any trouble. It may not hold air for long, but it should have been able to rebead the tire if you pumped it up.

They still make innertubes for scooters? Shocked
Wow.... I thought for sure tubeless was the standard now.
