Chinese (huawin) 150cc Gy6 engine model. Can anyone tell me what might be the problem with my lights. The main headlights stopped working and the brake light at the same time. I still have a tail light but it won't brighten up when I squeeze the brake.
All other lights work perfect..... even the small lights right beside the headlights that have their power coming out of the same connector as the headlights!!!
Lights are run off the motor, I have checked and cleaned all the grounds, fuse is good, checked all connections and can't see any bad or loose ones, battery is new and tested it, bulbs are all good/new.
Just suddenly stopped working a while back and driving home in the dark is really sucking !!!
I have checked every thing I know how to do, and searched tons of forums for info. Any suggestions would be worth at least a couple smiley faces..haha

Thanks

are the filaments in the bulbs ok? else you might have a wire that has rubbed through and shorted on the frame.

your brake light has 2 filaments in it, so the brighter one is probably burnt, causing that problem.
If your headlight isn't also burnt out, you may have a loose wire or a problem with the charging system..the stator.

ok, so I fixed the brake problem, it was just a bad bulb after all, even though the bulb in there looked just fine, even the filaments looked good.

Anyway, now I have no power to any of my front lights at all. All of them run off the motor/stator.
I did switch out the rectifier with a new one and still nothing so that is not the problem.
Can not find a bad wire anywhere, all are intact.
What else should I try to switch out??? the stator now??

again, thanks for the input.

Hsort of 'shorted out' wiring (pun intended), the stator is the last piece in the chain...so I suppose you should swap it out and see if it helps.
while you are at it, try to find a high-perf stator, like the one NYC makes, or maybe one from a 150cc with more coils, for more power, could solve the problem and provide MORE power, for other stuff, later on.
